Administered by WPCOG and other COGS. Program is to help residents affected by Hurricane Helene in these counties.

How to Apply:

1.Click on the apply now button to get started, you’ll then be directed to the DEQ energy saver website form.
2.Fill out your personal information and attach and necessary documents.
3.Once approved a contractor will reach out to set up the initial visit.
4.Once we’ve assessed the home and approved the needed service the project will begin.

qualify for rebates for, comprehensive energy-saving

  • Many homes damaged by Hurricane Helene need minor repairs (like a roof patch or structural fix) before they can qualify for rebates for, comprehensive energy-saving upgrades. This program covers those pre-weatherization repairs!

    Eligible projects will include:

    • Roof, wall, ceiling, floor, plumbing, and/or electrical repairs needed for effective weatherization

    • Remediation of moisture intrusion

    • Servicing or installing new energy-efficient HVAC systems and programmable thermostats

    • Upgrading or reinforcing the building envelope

    • Servicing or installing energy-efficient water heaters

    • Implementing LED lighting

    • Increasing indoor air quality by installing exhaust fans

    • Installing smoke and/or carbon monoxide detectors

    • Support for private insurance deductibles if the repair activities covered by insurance (beyond the deductible) qualify as eligible repairs under the program

  • We are providing funding to fix the essential health and safety issues caused or worsened by Hurricane Helen so you can access long-term energy efficiency programs and lower your utility bills.

  • Residents in the Western Piedmont region's most impacted counties, including Burke and Caldwell (and potentially others in the WPCOG service area).

  • Counties considered “High County” - Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Wataugua, & Yancey

    Counties considered “Western Piedmont” - Burke & Caldwell

    Counties considered “Land of Sky” - Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, & Transylvania

    Counties considered “Foothills Regional” - Cleveland, McDowell, Polk, & Rutherford

    Counties considered “Southwestern” - Haywood
